August always arrives with mixed emotions. For some, it’s a final stretch of summer bliss; for others, it’s back-to-school prep and the slow return to structure. If you’re feeling like the summer sped by and many of your goals didn’t quite happen—take a breath. That’s okay. Life is full, unpredictable, and constantly shifting.
On that note… Clutter Cutter is growing! After working solo for quite a while, I’m thrilled to share that I now have a team. You’ll meet each member soon, but for now, please join me in welcoming Sarah, Victoria, and Ariana—my A-Team. More to come next month!.
DID YOU KNOW?
August is one of the best months for habit shifts. According to behavior researchers, our brains are wired to embrace change during transitional times—like the start of a school year, a move, or even the end of summer. It’s the perfect window to rethink routines, declutter lingering “someday piles,” and plant seeds for a smoother fall.
QUICK TIPS
Backpack & Bag Dump: Empty them out now—clear out sand, snack crumbs, coins, unwanted pens, overused makeup, expired hand sanitizer, and mystery receipts.
Sunscreen & Toiletry Check: Toss expired items and consolidate what’s still usable, bonus points if you extend the sweep to your medicine cabinet.
Sort the Summer Gear & Clothes: Check what you haven’t used this summer or last, and give those items a second life by donating them to a new home.
MUST HAVES
🔗Guard Your ID Roller – The easiest way to keep that junk mail shredding pile from growing. Just roll it over your name and address, and—poof—toss it securely.
🔗Skylight Calendar – With back-to-school around the corner, keep everyone’s calendars in sync and avoid the dreaded “When is it?” or “Where are we going?” questions.
🔗Time Timer 60 Minute MOD – Perfect for getting into the do-it-now zone. Pair it with the Pomodoro technique to stay focused and make real progress.
🔗Order Out Of Chaos 2025–2026 Academic Planner – A must-have for high schoolers and college students to balance academics, activities, and fun.
WHAT’S HOT
Stop Saving, Start Doing I recently read 🔗Oliver Burkeman’s The Imperfectionist newsletter, where he talks about the “🔗power of immediacy”, how we often save articles, lists, and plans for later, but rarely get back to them. Instead of hoarding for “someday,” he suggests acting in the moment: read the article now, make the call now, clear the pile now.
It struck me how this applies to organizing: we often stash things to “deal with later,” creating backlogs that feel heavier over time. Acting on inspiration in the moment not only lightens the load, it builds momentum.

MUST READ
🔗Atomic Habits by James Clear If you haven’t read this one yet—or want a refresher—it’s perfect for August. Clear explains how small, consistent changes lead to big results. It’s a great motivator for anyone craving a fresh start without the pressure of perfection. One of my favorite takeaways? “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”
